Procedural Polished Terrazzo with Controllable Chips
Stone chips set into a binder and ground flat, with the chips reading slightly glossier than the matrix around them the way real polished terrazzo does. Two chip scales run at once – the large aggregate plus a scatter of fines filling the gaps – and both the chip size and the fine chip size are set in millimetres, so the speckle stays believable whatever you map it onto. No image textures.
Features:
- Four presets: Ivory, Warm Sand, Cool Ash and Charcoal
- Aggregate palette – a base color plus two chip colors and an accent, with Accent Amount deciding how often the odd standout chip appears and Chip Tone Variation keeping no two chips identical
- Chip pattern in millimeters – Chip Size, Chip Coverage, Chip Spacing and Shape Variation for the main aggregate, plus Fine Chip Size and Fine Chip Amount for the dust between them
- Surface finish – Roughness, Micro Grain and Coat Weight for the ground surface, and Chip Polish so the stone catches light differently from the binder
- Aggregate Mask output – tap the chip pattern itself to drive displacement, wear or anything else downstream
- Controls grouped into Aggregate Palette, Chip Pattern and Surface Finish panels, with Scale and Seed on top
- Lit studio scene included, set up on a material sphere
- Built and rendered in Blender 5.2 with Cycles
Perfect for:
- Floors, counters, worktops and bathroom surfaces
- Mid-century and contemporary interior scenes
- Furniture and product renders that need a speckled stone surface up close
For solid stone instead of aggregate, there is Procedural Marble, and Procedural Marble Tiles if you need it laid out in slabs.
Included Files:
- Blender project (.blend) with the four preset materials, the node group and a lit preview scene
- Created in Blender 5.2
